We’re a family business, based in England, established in 2015 and dedicated to supplying fruit cake, the most traditional of all English cakes, originating in the 17th century. In England it's customary for everyone to take time and pause for ‘afternoon tea’, and traditionally, delicious fruit cake is served. We truly believe a classic English fruit cake is one of the world's greatest culinary inventions. Our mission is to bring these delicacies to food lovers all over the world. We live and breathe fruit cake at Buckingham Cakes. The cake is a treat, and treats should be special, particularly when they’re gifts. It’s vital for our fruit cakes to be made to the highest standards of quality. We are a small, specialist business and we will not deviate from our very exacting specifications. We have no desire to be a mass-market supplier. Our philosophy is "quality, not quantity". Our focus is all about patience and perfection. Above all, our cakes must be unashamedly indulgent and truly delicious! The Buckingham recipe dates back to 1890. The cake is handmade, still based on the original recipe and using no artificial colours or flavours. Made with pure butter, juicy sultanas, raisins, currants, sumptuous cherries, tangy orange and lemon peel and a pinch of spice. We source the best quality ingredients and bake the cakes with loving care. Each cake is then finished with luxurious gift packaging. In England, fruit cake remains very popular all year round to eat with ‘afternoon tea’; a tradition still observed by many English families, at home and in teashops and restaurants.
