In the new Dewar’s 12 Year Old the recipe remains unchanged. Instead, we’ve modified the double ageing process to increase smoothness and amplify existing flavour notes. The second stage of double ageing is now conducted in ‘active’ 1st fill bourbon casks. 1st fill means we use them first and the oak retains far more flavour, releasing richer vanilla, dried fruit and citrus notes into the whisky. The new Dewars 12 Year Old is made by the worlds best masterblender, Stephanie Macleod.
